When Job Coach, Julia, met Workforce Australia client, Paul, at the Moolap atWork Australia office, she quickly learnt of his kind and caring nature.
But at 50-years-old, Paul wasn’t keeping up with the new changes in computers and technology and needed help learning how to apply for roles online.
Paul also didn’t have any forms of identification (ID) such as a Driver’s Licence, Passport or Birth Certificate.
Julia and the atWork Australia team supported Paul with email training and how to navigate a computer, while organising ID for Paul.
While Paul was learning more about computers, Julia spoke to Paul about the numerous opportunities available in the Aged Care sector. She thought his kind and caring nature could be an asset to this industry.
Paul liked the idea but lacked confidence especially when it came to complete all of the online requirements needed to start work in Aged Care.
“I let Paul know that I was here to help him and together we worked through the online application process, and training modules,” said Julia.
Paul was successful in his application and is now part-time in the laundry at his local aged care facility.
“Paul has a caring and kind nature, and now feels he can work in an environment where he can use his skills. He enjoys assisting and helping others,” said Julia.
“Julia has been brilliant in helping me to find work. She is enthusiastic and attentive. Suggestive but not demanding, while always wanting the best for me,” said Paul.
Paul and the team at atWork Australia are now working towards Paul’s next goal of obtaining his Driver’s Licence.
