At 21 years old, Workforce Australia client, Liam had limited work experience. When he first started with atWork Australia in Davoren Park, SA, he had very little motivation to find employment.
Job Coach, Nathan, found Liam at times, difficult to get in contact with, however he never gave up trying.
Over time, and with persistence, Liam began to trust Nathan and started to share his goals.
“Liam was at a low point in his life,” said Nathan.
“He was emotional, and unsure if he would find work with his past troubles. By listening, understanding and being there consistently, Liam began to trust we were here to help him.”
Once trust was established, Liam became really motivated to change his circumstances and find employment.
He was referred to atWork Australia’s Jobs for the Mob program to identify his education, life and employment goals.
The program helped him identify the types of work he might like to do, supported him to build his resume and gave him confidence interacting with others.
When Liam was ready to start looking for work, Nathan sat with him and applied for a few roles online.
In that first lot of applications, Liam had a call back for an interview in Storage Services.
atWork Australia supported Liam to purchase some clothing to wear to his interview and he was successful.
The atWork Australia team then supported him to gain his forklift ticket for the role and purchase personal protective equipment.
“Liam has proven why being a Job Coach is rewarding,” said Nathan.
“Hard work and commitment to progression has gotten him to where he wants to be. When Liam told me he got this job, I was so proud of him.”
“I told him that he has come so far and that I’m so proud to be his Job Coach. Client thanked me and said he appreciates everything I have done for him.”
