Workforce Australia client, Noah, has previously been supported by atWork Australia to find employment. He has recently been working in a casual position but when his employment ended, he chose to return to atWork Australia for support.
This setback impacted Noah’s confidence. However, he wasted no time and quickly reconnected with the atWork Australia team in Corrimal, NSW.
Noah was being supported by Job Coach, Aimee. He told Aimee that he was looking to find a new job quickly, and ideally, he wanted a full-time position.
To help fast track the process, Aimee enlisted support from atWork Australia’s Employer Engagement team, who could tap into their broad network of employers.
Noah began to secure interviews. However, he would consistently receive the news that he was unsuccessful.
Noah’s main barrier to employment were mistakes he had made in the past. He feared employers might not give him a chance because he could not pass a police clearance. Aimee assured him that it was all about finding the right employer and that there are employers willing to give people a chance.
Despite receiving a few knock-backs, Noah remained focused on his goal of finding full-time employment. He told Aimee he would be prepared to explore alternative avenues and consider different employment options.
Aimee asked if he would be willing to do further training, which Noah agreed to. With atWork Australia providing the funding, Aimee arranged for Noah to complete his forklift ticket.
In the background, while the team were looking for suitable employment. Noah attended atWork Australia’s MoneyMinded program. The program helps participants to develop their skills to manage their personal finances.
Additionally, Noah attended a First Steps to Success event. This provided him an opportunity to connect and network with local employers.
With each step closer to employment, Noah’s confidence and self-belief continued to grow. He was stepping outside of his comfort zone, and he was rewarded for his efforts when he secured a position as a Forklift Driver.
In preparation to start work, atWork Australia provided funding for Noah to purchase work clothes and provided fuel vouchers to help reduce the financial pressure until he was settled in his new workplace.
Returning to work has had a massive impact on Noah’s life and improved his financial situation.
“Aimee has gone above and beyond to help me get a job. She set up interviews and even when I got knocked back, she kept encouraging me to keep trying. I wouldn’t have started this job if it wasn’t for Aimee. She has helped me so much with getting tickets and making sure I was all set and ready for my first day,” said Noah.
