Studying for formal qualifications is always a sound career pathway, and often you might start studying in one area and end up qualified in something completely different.
Francis, from Riverwood in NSW, soon found this out earlier in the year while working toward a specific career through atWork Australia.
Francis was in the process of gaining formal qualifications in Peer Support when the Covid-19 pandemic arrived in Australia and her course was placed on hold due to restrictions on compulsory work placement.
Francis felt that Peer Support was her only pathway to a career and was unsure of her next steps.
Not wanting to waste any time in lockdown, Francis met with her Job Coach, Fareena, to chat about what other options might be available for her.
Together they looked at several possibilities and talked about different courses and content to find what an area Francis was interested in.
Francis was quite excited to hear she could completely change direction and switch to a Certificate III in Business. This would offer her opportunities in administration and reception, a career option she had not looked at previously.
Francis is now over halfway to completing her course, has upgraded her computer skills and sees a whole new world in front of her.
She is incredibly grateful to Fareena for her guidance and the genuine interest in her wellbeing and is looking forward to her future career in business administration.
