After many job rejections, Workforce Australia client, Eved, had lost all hope of finding meaningful employment.
The first day she met with Job Coach, Nur, at the Mt Druitt, atWork Australia office, she had very little confidence.
She didn’t want to share her employment goals as she didn’t think they could be a possibility for her and didn’t want to be let down again.
Eved, originally from Iraq, had a limited work history in Australia, and limited English skills.
“My main role was to boost Eved’s self-esteem,” said Job Coach Nur.
“I worked with Eved to prepare her resume and worked on practising interview skills.”
As Eved applied for more roles, even with employers who spoke the same language as her, she continued to face rejection.
Nur kept encouraging Eved to never give up, and that they would eventually find her a role she would enjoy. Eved felt like the only person who believed in her was her Job Coach.
Nur referred Eved to atWork Australia’s Employer Engagement team who were able to advocate on behalf of Eved for a pick packing role in a local warehouse.
atWork Australia attended the interview with Eved, and explained the in work support that atWork Australia would continue to provide for Eved.
The employer was willing to give her a go, and Eved was so happy.
The atWork Australia team kept in close contact with Eved and the employer to ensure everything was going well for both of them and providing support where needed.
“Eved has become a different person than when I first met her. She is positive, self-confident and a strong woman,” said Nur
“I had no hope of finding a stable job. Without my Job Coach Nur, I don’t believe I would be where I am now, in employment,” said Eved.
