Wade, who lives with anxiety and depression, was connected to the atWork Australia Devonport office in Tasmania to support him to find work.
Wade hadn’t worked in the past 15 years as he was the primary carer for his wife and children, but at 46 years old, he was ready to find some casual work.
He was supported by Job Coach, Ally, from the Workforce Australia team who quickly learnt Wade was interested in some casual work in a bottle shop.
While Ally worked with Wade to create a tailored resume and cover letter specific to this industry, Wade participated in our Wellness Services for support on his health and wellbeing to prepare him to progress towards employment.
During his applications, Wade noticed bottle shop attendants might have to drive a forklift, so he asked the team for support to gain his forklift ticket.
“Wade had the flexibility to choose activities which suited his goals to work in a bottle shop, and our team was able to support him along the way,” said Ally.
Wade landed a role at the local bottle shop, which he was really happy about as the hours suited his family commitments. atWork Australia was able to support Wade purchase the clothing and shoes he needed to start working.
Wade was thankful of the opportunity and wanted to ensure he was doing well in his new role.
“Wade was moved into our In-Work support program. This is when he indicated to the team he needed more industry knowledge.
“We then supported Wade to complete an RSA to learn more about liquor regulations,” said Ally.
“atWork Australia have been fantastic, giving me the tools, resources and confidence to return to work, I really appreciate the work they do,” said client, Wade.
“I also want to thank my employer for giving me a chance.”
