After various part time roles, 47-year-old Indigenous Workforce Australia client, Vivian was ready for a full-time position. To assist on her journey she reached out to the atWork Australia team in Ultimo, NSW.
From the moment Job Coach, Pravin met Vivian, one thing was clear – her love for work, and the confidence it gives her.
With a varied background in a range of industries including traffic control, retail, and administration, Vivian was not certain of her next steps. To help her gain clarity, Pravin enrolled her into the Jobs for the Mob program.
This program specifically supports Indigenous clients to identify their home, education, and work goals. This program also covers resume writing and financial planning.
“Vivian always demonstrated her love of learning and gradually built her interview skills, as well as job search skills, through the program,” said atWork Australia’s pre-employment facilitator, Wendy.
“Vivian was engaged well with all activities, even assisting others in the program to catch up on topics.”
Whilst completing this program, she also received external training for Traffic Control.
With her new qualification, resume, and interview skills, Vivian was ready to take the next steps on her journey – finding full time employment she loved.
Pravin began contacting local Indigenous employers regarding vacancies.
Within no time, Vivian was successful in obtaining a position as a car park attendant.
During her time with Workforce Australia, Vivian enjoyed the flexibility of the Workforce Australia, and the Points Based Activation System (PBAS). The system, in conjunction with the tailored support of atWork Australia allowed her to achieve her employment goals.
“Thank you atWork Australia. I really appreciate your time and efforts on my journey. You have been so patient and helpful.” – Vivian, atWork Australia Client.
