When Job Coach, Tanika met Workforce Australia client, Ty, his enthusiasm and eagerness to return to work was clear.
Spending the past seven years out of employment and recently moving to the area, Ty was determined to hit the ground running.

Ty had a variety of goals, both short term and long term that he was looking to work towards.
“For the short term, he was looking to save money while gaining the appropriate tickets and licences to get into his long-term goal of FIFO work,” said Tanika.
“He shared with me that he also currently does not have transport.”
At the time of this initial appointment, a local employer had just approached the team with a new opportunity. After learning about Ty’s skills, goals, interests and work experience, Tanika thought Ty would be a great fit within the business.
She explained the position to him, and he jumped on the vacancy straight away. Tanika organised police clearances, identification documents as well as purchasing interview clothing.
While the paperwork was being organised, Tanika connected Ty with the pre-employment team to complete MoneyMinded. This program provides education on how to effectively manage personal finances, aligning with Ty’s short-term goals.
Soon Ty was invited to an interview with the employer. After the employer saw his eagerness and skills for the job, he was offered the position.
“I was overjoyed to hear that Ty was successful in the position,” said Tanika.
“To ensure that he was able to travel safely and independently to work, we were able to purchase him a bike. He was overjoyed.”
With only six weeks between his first appointment, and starting work, it is safe to say that Ty has achieved his short-term goal. atWork Australia looks forward to assisting Ty achieve his long-term goal of FIFO work.
