In November 2022, after two decades of unemployment, Workforce Australia client, Tuong entered the atWork Australia office in Mirrabooka, WA, looking to re-enter the workforce once again.
For many years, Tuong could not purchase anything but groceries, due to a lack of income. This led to several family conflicts and with few friends, her confidence and self-esteem were low; making finding a job more difficult for her.
Within her first appointment with her Job Coach, Chi, the pair discussed the PBAS system, her goals, skills and employment history. Chi, took the time to reassure Tuong that the perfect role was out there for her, and to believe in herself and the process.
Chi and Tuong set clear and achievable goals to ensure that she was both confident and comfortable throughout her employment journey.
The pair got to know each other very well within their face-to-face and phone appointments. Whenever Tuong was doubtful of herself, Chi helped boost her confidence, reminding her of how far she has come already.
After just several weeks together, Chi found a perfect role for Tuong as a fruit packer at a local Vietnamese fruit shop. After discussing this position with Tuong, Chi put her resume forward. She was later successful in this position.
Tuong was very grateful for all of Chi’s support, empowerment, and encouragement throughout her journey to employment.
Tuong has not only gained employment, but a new sense of confidence and some new friends too.
Chi and the In-Work Support team in Mirrabooka continue to support Tuong in reporting and troubleshooting any technical support she needs.
