What made you want to become a Psychologist?
What made me want to become a Psychologist or a Wellness Advisor is… I’ve always liked connecting with people.
What is the main highlight of your role?
I think the highlight of my role is when you observe progress now this is either when we observe progress, the client reports progress, or when they get work or they’re thriving in work. It’s just a whole other feeling, it intrinsically motivates you just to do it all over again.
How do you work with Job Coaches to help clients reach their goals?
We share a goal which is to help the clients progress towards employment, well we do it from different approaches, so they do it more of helping them access courses and referring them out to jobs, things like that whereas we target the psychological aspects, so back and forth communication. We kind of tell them where the clients’ at whether you know what kind of work might be suitable for them and they may tell us what their goal with the client might be so everyone’s just on the same page.
What do you like about working for atWork Australia?
With atWork Australia it’s one of the most supportive organisations. So the management, our peers, I love that everyone supports each other everyone’s you know. It’s a really good work culture. Another thing that I love about it, it’s actually client focused so as a psychologist we don’t find ourselves juggling between the demands of a psychologist and demands of work, because there the same thing so they allow us to help the client the best we can which is why most of us even chose this role.
