atWork Australia employs people from all over the country, who seek a career with purpose, where they can make real impact.
Let’s meet some of the team
My name’s Vanessa. I’ve been with atWork Australia for two years now.
My name is Mohammed Davari. I’m a Job Coach of atWork Australia since one and half years now.
I’m Frances. I’m a Service Manager for Liverpool ESA. Been in the company for 11 years.
My name is Trey Allen. I am 18 years old, and I’m a Job Coach at atWork Australia in Blacktown.
My name’s Layne. I am a Job Coach in Mount Druitt and Tregar. I’m 22 years old and I think I’ve been here just over a year now.
My name’s Jen, I’m 34 years old. I am an Employer Engagement Consultant. I work in the Nepean region, and pretty much everywhere all over Sydney, but I’m based in the west. I’ve worked here for 4 and half years.
What do you enjoy most about the atWork Australia organisation and your role?
[Frances] I honestly love people, I am a people person, so I think that’s key to why I like doing this role and the front line as well. But the culture of atWork Australia, it’s so good.
[Trey] The moment of finding out that the client has gotten a job. That’s probably the best feeling.
[Mohammed] It’s a quiet place, everyone’s friendly. It’s like second family members.
[Jen] When I came across this role, I remember saying in my interview, that I felt like in my previous role I could make someone’s day, but I couldn’t change someone’s life. And I still remember saying that to Thomas, and it’s very true. You feel like you’re really making a impact on people’s lives. People that may be over looked in any other aspect. So they need a chance, they need our help, and it’s just so rewarding seeing people and employment changing their life. It’s great.
What has career progression looked like for you during your time with atWork Australia?
[Cameron] I actually started off in the Call Centre, then put in the Client Solutions Centre. Just before my two years, I became a Job Coach, and just a couple of months ago I became and In-Work Support coach.
[Vanessa] 2020 I came in as a client. So started in as a Job Coach. After doing that for close to a year, I moved into an In-Work Support Consultant. So that was great because it was more I guess hands on, more what I was used to. During that time I event got to act up as Manager, which was fantastic, so lots of change. Then in the last seven months I’ve moved into the counsellor role. So never thought that would be the role I would go into, because it was my dream job, but I never thought I was capable. But with my Job Coach, with the people at this work being so supportive with building that confidence, I was able to go into my dream job and here I am thriving in it.
What are the transferable skills that have helped you in your role with atWork Australia?
[Bibi] Transferable skills would be, coming from a six language spoken background. So I speak Pashto, Hazaragi, Dari, Farsi, Urdu and a bit of Arabic and English.
[Try] Definitely communication skills is the biggest thing.
[Layne] People skills. Building rapport with clients is a massive thing.
[Linda] Definitely customer service and problem solving.
[Frances] Customer service, I think that’s the biggest, that’s the key one. Customer service, being able to build rapport with people I think is huge, because I think you get good success when you can meet someone, engage and build that rapport.
What would you tell a friend or family member about your career with atWork Australia?
[Jen] There’s so much growth in atWork Australia though, it’s available to anyone that want’s it. I just really love my job. And I’ve had a baby since I’ve been here and I’ve come back and atWork Australia’s been so wonderfully supportive, and I’m just so content where I am.
[Linda] Everything I’ve heard about the culture of atWork Australia, and what their mission is, it really aligned with who I am as an individual and that is why I’m here.
[Vanessa] atWork Australia definitely give you the opportunity to grow if you want it.
[Bibi] atWork Australia does make a difference in people’s life, and it has made an impact changing me and I do see that in our community as well.
