atWork Australia recently showcased our services at the ‘Anti-Poverty Event Daveron Park’ within local shopping centre ‘The Fields’ in Daveron Park, South Australia.

Hosted by Anglicare SA and Believe Housing Australia, the event also included Foodbank, Thread Together and Services Australia. All with the same goal – to assist with homelessness in the local community.

“A range of services and activities were on offer at the event, focusing on practical skills,” said atWork Australia’s Regional Manager for South Australia.

“Skills taught included growing food, managing finances and how to access employment services from local experts within the region.”

By attending the event, the local Davoren Park atWork Australia team were able to connect and share information about our Disability Employment Services and Workforce Australia services.

“Since the event we are able to help more people in the local area. We are excited to achieve their goals together,” said Robyn.

In addition to this support, atWork Australia raffled off a hamper with food and had the barbeque going offering lunch to the 100 attendees.

Other support organisations were offering workshops on how to grow food, with plants being taken home, free clothing and food vouchers.

Not only was this a great day for the attendees, but it was also a great opportunity for the businesses and organisations to connect further and strengthen their relationships.

The day was a shining example of how community collaboration and connection can unite to empower people facing hardship within the communities they serve.
