For Workforce Australia client, Tim*, all that was needed to get back into employment after burnout, was a lending hand and ear.
At the time of entering the atWork Australia office in Invermay, TAS, Tim had recently left his 30-year career in Horticulture and Viticulture after experiencing extreme burnout. This burnout led to an extreme deterioration of his mental and physical health.
To accomplish his goals, Tim was partnered with Job Coach, Ashlee.
“I provided a safe place for Tim to feel heard and seen after his previous work experience. He felt ashamed of his burnout,” said Ashlee.
“He was very anxious when we first met. I spent time reassuring Tim of his feelings, and how they were valid.”
After listening, and getting to know Tim, he began to open up. He quickly felt comfortable in attending appointments.
Tim expressed an interest in gaining his forklift ticket in hopes to become a laborer. Ashlee referred him to complete a two-day course.
With his forklift licence and ticket under his belt, and his nerves low, Ashlee began looking for suitable positions for Tim. She found a great position for him, a labouring position within Horticulture!
With Ashlee and the atWork Australia team in Invermay by his side, Tim was later successful in gaining this position after a great interview.
