Tianne a 28-year-old mother of two children, started working with atWork Australia during a difficult time of her life.
Having recently fled from a Domestic Violence situation, she was living with anxiety and depression, while moving around a lot to secure stable accommodation.
The Workforce Australia, atWork Australia team in Blacktown, NSW, flexibly serviced Tianne during this time. However, at this point in her life, Tianne was not in a headspace to work, so the atWork Australia team suggested she participate in the Jobs for the Mob program to meet her requirements.
The program aims to support Indigenous clients to identify their life, education, and employment goals.
“Tianne attended with reservation, but soon after the program started, she was taking notes, engaging and asking questions,” said Program Facilitator, Naz.
“She said she felt motivated and encouraged.”
The program helped Tianne realise her goal of wanting to help others including victims of Domestic Violence and Youth.
She is now enrolled in a Certificate III in Community Service and is looking for casual work to complete while she is studying to support her family.
“She become motivated to attend interviews to gain experience, she practiced with the atWork Australia team and asked her Job Coach for help filling out applications,” said Naz.
The atWork Australia team supported Tianne to gain her Working with children check, first aid and police check.
The team are now supporting her to find the right employment so she can also focus on her studies. She meets with atWork Australia’s Employer Engagement Consultant regularly to look at suitable roles.
They look forward to seeing the impact she will make in the lives of others in the future.
“Tianne now has a self-belief that she can reach her goals,” said Naz.
