Disability Employment Services client, Aiden* attended the Broadmeadows atWork Australia office with his mother.
Living with psychological barriers including limitations with social interactions, Aiden had not yet held paid employment. These barriers impacted Aiden’s confidence when it came to being in public places alone.
Aiden’s Job Coach, Warda, worked with Aiden to identify what kind of roles he might like to do that worked within his barriers. Aiden had previously done volunteer work, so had some idea of what he enjoyed and didn’t enjoy.
Aiden did not feel comfortable talking with strangers, so the team worked hard to find job opportunities for Aiden that worked for him.
Warda started calling employers she knew of who were flexible, inclusive and might have roles available to suit Aiden.
She was able to find him a part time cleaning role with very limited interaction with others. Warda encouraged, and motivated Aiden, and he was successful in his interview.
Warda then sat with Aiden to fill in the paperwork and complete his onboarding, supporting him every step of the way.
Aiden’s mother has expressed how happy she is that this job has made him confident, and now he is open to going to any location for work and goes shopping himself.
“I have had the full support of Warda of atWork Australia since I first decided to try this business as my Employment Service Provider,” said Aiden.
“Nothing was ever too much trouble. I was always greeted with a smile and empathy. It was the best choice I could have made for my wellbeing.”
“She has been kind in her approach to my job search and thanks to her and atWork Australia, after only six months of being with them, I have found employment.”
“This is the first time in all my years of looking for work, that I was supported positively. I have now been employed for six months,” said Aiden.
