Linda now has additional funds to be able to travel, visiting her daughter and grandchildren out of state. She has found a new sense of achievement and is so proud of herself. - Sarah, Job Coach, Workforce Australia, TAS

For Workforce Australia client, Linda, all she needed to thrive was the support of Job Coach, Sarah and the broader atWork Australia team in Ravenswood, TAS.

After relocating to North Tasmania, Linda was finding it difficult to obtain employment. She was doubtful that she would find an employer that is perfect for her after a negative experience from her previous employer.

Within her initial appointment with Sarah, the pair got to know each other. Linda shared that she experiences anxiety, this was because of her previous work experiences.

“She was hesitant to attend appointments at first. She did not feel comfortable disclosing much information and hid when she spoke,” said Sarah.

Sarah ensured her previous experiences would not be her future, and that she would not stop searching until the perfect position was found for her. It was from this moment, that their bond grew.

“A good relationship was built with Linda. She felt she could trust me after her previous experiences. She felt comfortable being able to trust atWork Australia.”

During this time, Linda’s Workforce Australia points were adjusted to not overwhelm her. This flexibility allowed Linda to feel comfortable.

Several appointments with Sarah, unveiled a new, more confident version of Linda. Sarah worked with atWork Australia’s Employer Engagement Team to find a suitable position for Linda.

Within no time at all, Linda gained an interview with a local Dry Cleaner.

“Linda did great in her interview and was offered a trial run,” said Sarah.

Since this trial, Linda has progressed within the business, and has now signed a part time permanent contract with the employer.

“Linda now has additional funds to be able to travel, visiting her daughter and grandchildren out of state. This isn’t something she has been able to do previously. She has found a new sense of achievement and is so proud of herself.”

atWork Australia financially supported Linda during her job searching and once she gained her position. This support included food and fuel vouchers.
