Anne spent many years working in customer service and was thrilled to have been offered a role in administration for Gymea TAFE in early 2020.
However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, her hours were gradually reduced until in November of 2020, work was no longer available, and like many, Anne was made redundant.
It was as a result of this, that Anne developed mental health concerns that led her to seek assistance from atWork Australia’s Disability Employment Service.
With help and understanding from Job Coach Norrial (pictured right) Anne was able to review, reassess and amend her resume to reflect all her experiences in a succinct and professional format.
Anne and Norrial searched through atWork Australia’s jobs board with a view to finding suitable employment in similar fields but, competition was high, vacancies in the area Anne wanted to work were low and the compounding challenges brought on by Anne’s mental health concerns added to her journey.
In response to this, Anne made a decision to run her own cleaning business after consulting with her atWork Australia Job Coach Norrial and Service Manager Zoe (pictured left), who set out to make this a reality.
It was obvious to Job Coach Norrial that Anne possessed the drive to accomplish anything that she set out to achieve and she brought all of her learned experience and transferrable skills to her business.
Taking advantage of the resources that atWork Australia supplied, such as cleaning equipment and coaching, Anne was able to confidently grow her business.
With this kind of support, Anne can work to the best of her abilities while ensuring that her physical and mental wellbeing is not overlooked.
Norrial remarked that Anne is “Very satisfied with all assistances from atWork Australia and she is excited to be starting a fresh new journey”.
Anne was pleased at the way that Norrial used a strategic approach to find her sustainable employment through her business.
Anne happened to be atWork Australia’s 10,000th placement and atWork Australia will consistently support Anne in her business and any other employment needs.
