Vilma, who lives with health conditions, had been unemployed for six years. atWork Australia’s Job Coach, Rasha, was able to support Vilma to move forward and find the right role for her.
Vilma started with atWork Australia lacking motivation. She felt she couldn’t do any jobs with her physical limitations and basic technology skills.
She really wanted to work but felt frustrated by the entire process, especially when she found it difficult to even apply for roles.
Rasha supported Vilma by helping her learn how to search online, email and message so that she could apply for roles online.
“Vilma just needed someone in her corner. To patiently support her learning, and to motivate her to keep trying until she reached her goals,” said Rasha.
“While we were learning the online systems, I made sure to show Vilma all kinds of roles available including ones with limited hours and those that would support her abilities.”
As Vilma learned the computer systems, she began to feel more motivated to return to work and was excited when she landed a part time role which suited her needs.
“You have made my life move forward, by taking an interest in me,” said Vilma.
Vilma will continue to work with atWork Australia in our In-Work support program, as she enjoys working with the team and the support she receives.
“I look forward to seeing Vilma continue to thrive in meaningful and sustainable work,” said Rasha.
