Shantelle is more determined than ever to reach her employment goals.
As a primary carer of her children, Shantelle was navigating the juggle of finding work hours to fit within her caring responsibilities.
From Joondalup in Western Australia, Shantelle was connected to atWork Australia through Workforce Australia for assistance in finding work.
She connected with Job Coach Destiny, who encouraged and supported Shantelle even when things didn’t go to plan.
Shantelle has a dream to work in Traffic Control and worked hard to be in a position to apply for her Traffic Control accreditation. Unfortunately, she was unsuccessful.
“Shantelle was emotional after she failed her test, however, she did not let this get the best of her. She picked herself up and started to apply for other roles,” said Job Coach Destiny.
“Shantelle’s resilience is what allowed her to stay positive and continue to look elsewhere.”
With Destiny’s support, Shantelle secured a role as a store manager.
“Shantelle was excited when she told me she secured the role,”
“She was a little nervous to start but has found a role she enjoys. Shantelle has learned how capable she is of leading and having the responsibility and duty of care for other employees.”
By learning how capable she is in her current role, Shantelle is now more determined than ever to pass her Traffic Control accreditation.
“I am so pleased to be employed as it has given me the freedom to be independent and feel a sense of self,” said Shantelle.
“Shantelle has not let anything stop her in her journey to employment. She said, she will continue to pursue her career in Traffic Control,” said Destiny.
“And we look forward to supporting Shantelle every step of the way.”
