Workforce Australia client, Shane, began working with Job Coach, Chelsea, in atWork Australia’s Northam office, WA.
He was eager to work, but recent rejections, and employment setbacks, meant he wasn’t feeling confident he would find something.
Shane had minimal work experience and was experiencing unstable accommodation.
He had previously applied for fast paced customer service style roles but found he didn’t have the confidence to work directly with customers.
Shane and Chelsea worked together to tailor a plan to support him back into work. They tailored his Workforce Australia points requirements to suit his circumstances and goals, while Chelsea helped him become more confident in searching and applying for work.
Shane would actively attend the office when no appointment was booked, as he was so eager to start work.
One day, Chelsea and the local Employer Engagement Consulted visited Shane’s now employer to advocate on his behalf for a role, and successfully landed a work trial right away.
atWork Australia supported Shane with fuel vouchers so he could attend training to be successful in his new role.
“Shane’s confidence has improved, and he now has extra money to ensure stable accommodation for himself. Shane feels that life is looking up,” said Chelsea.
Shane is in the process of completing a Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) certificate, with the support of the atWork Australia team, to allow him to work extra hours for his current employer.
