Quote reads "“I feel I finally belong. I am making connections with co-workers, and they even put on a birthday surprise for me which I have never experienced before.” said client Ashlee

Workforce Australia client, Ashlee, had been unemployed for five years when she connected with Job Coach, Angela, at the Joondalup office in Western Australia.

Ashlee lives in an outer suburb of Perth and relied on limited public transport. She felt with no driver’s licence and having been unemployed for so long, she wouldn’t be able to find work.

“When I first met Ashlee, she told me she wasn’t employable,” said Angela.

“I knew that with the right support, and access to our network of employers we could find her a role she would love.”

With Ashlee’s low confidence and self-esteem, Angela worked on creating a job plan designed to build her up.

Ashlee shared she enjoyed helping others and thought either customer service or support work would suit her.

atWork Australia enrolled her into a Certificate III in Aged Care and Disability to prepare her for possible support work. She was connected to an online course she could do from home, in her own time.

She was also connected to atWork Australia’s in-house Wellness Services to build belief in herself.

“I wanted to work with Ashlee at her pace,” said Angela. “We took small steps, to build up her confidence and help her progress to employment.”

Once she had completed her study, Ashlee volunteered with the Salvation Army to gain valuable customer service skills. During her appointments, they practiced mock interviews, which involved Ashlee talking about her strengths and skills.

These steps supported Ashlee to improve her self-confidence. She could identify her strengths, had the right skills, and was ready to take the next step towards employment.

atWork Australia’s Employer Engagement Consultant found a role for Ashlee as a Customer Service Agent. The role was a great fit as it was on the train line, and there was an opportunity for flexible working from home.

atWork Australia purchased interview clothing for Ashlee and had her come into the office before her interview so they could encourage and build her up.

Her new confidence shone through, and she is now working as a Customer Service Agent.

Every year, atWork Australia help thousands of clients like Ashlee expand their skills and qualifications to help them gain the right job with the right employer. Call us today on 1300 080 856 or enquire online to find out how we can help you meet your career goals.
