atWork Australia Job Coach, Rodney, said, “I have recently spoken to Ruby’s supervisor; they gave great feedback about her work ethic. She is always happy to help anyone.”

Ruby* is a single mother to a teenage son. Previously, she has worked in IT and has the qualifications to support her to thrive in this industry.

Unfortunately, Ruby has experienced a significant health challenge which has kept her out of the workplace for the past four years.

As a single mother, she was feeling the financial pressures of not working and was desperately looking to return to work.

Given her gap in employment, her motivation was low. She did not feel confident to return to the fast-paced work environment she had previously worked in.

Ruby was aware of the challenges she was facing, which led her to connect with atWork Australia’s Workforce Australia team in Waterloo, NSW, for tailored support on her employment journey.

Ruby was being supported by Job Coach, Rodney. She shared that in the short-term she hoped to find work in an administration role and build her confidence to eventually return to the IT industry.

Rodney supported Ruby to apply for positions, helping to draft suitable cover letters and tailoring her resume to suit the position she was applying for.

Together, they looked to identify positions where Ruby could leverage her previous experience, manage her stress levels and gradually rebuild her confidence.

Rodney found multiple roles for Ruby, including University administration roles and opportunities with atWork Australia’s parent company, the MedHealth Group.

Ruby was excited to secure an interview with the MedHealth Group. The pair then shifted their focus to preparing Ruby for her interview.

In preparation for the interview, Rodney arranged funding for Ruby to purchase suitable interview clothing and funding to cover the cost of transport. This extra support helped reduce some of her nerves and allowed her to feel confident within herself during the interview.

Ruby excelled in her interview and was delighted to join the MedHealth Group.

“I have recently spoken to Ruby’s supervisor; they gave great feedback about her work ethic. She is always happy to help anyone,” said Rodney.

We are so thrilled to see Ruby return to work and we have no doubt she will continue to achieve her employment goals.
