Workforce Australia client, Soula, entered the atWork Australia Bega, NSW office looking for assistance in obtaining full time work. Peter, her Job Coach, and Natasha, Employer Engagement Consultant, could see Soula’s enthusiasm to get gain a full-time position and they were looking forward to their journey together.
Soula recently moved back to the area to live with her partner after living in her car for a significant amount of time. Soon after moving back in, the relationship ended, and it was unpleasant.
Unfortunately, Soula could not find alternative accommodation due to the competitive rental market and only in casual employment at the local library. She planned to continue to live with her ex-partner until she found full time employment, despite it negatively impacting her mental health.
Her Job coach, Peter, understood how time critical her situation was and got right to work with understanding what Soula was looking for with her next job, as well as what programs and services we could offer Soula to assist her situation.
Soula worked with the Wellness Team for additional support in her personal life. While the team at Bega ensured they were always checking in with Soula at all stages of her employment journey to ensure she was always safe, confident and comfortable.
Peter and Natasha were able to provide Soula with financial assistance to purchase work clothing, ensuring that she not only felt the part but looked it too.
Soula religiously attended all appointments, career information days and career development work shops. Her ongoing dedication, initiative and positive attitude to getting employment paid off when she was asked to attend an interview with a local pharmacy.
The employer was looking forward to meeting Soula, saying that Soula’s referees had nothing but kind words to say about her and mentioned that they would re-employ her in a heartbeat.
After a very successful interview and trial shift, she was offered the position as a full time Pharmacy Shop Assistant.
Soula was over the moon to hear the good news from Peter and explained that she did not expect to be selected for the position as the employer had interviewed multiple applicants. She thanked the atWork Australia team in Bega but especially Peter and Natasha for all their hard work.
“Thank you, Natasha! Without your help and belief in me I would not be able to attend the interview and trial. I am going to miss seeing you and Peter in the office. I could not have done this without you both. Thank you so much” – Soula.
She also mentioned that this position is exactly what she needed at the right time, in exactly the right place with the right people too.
