Regina (61) started working with atWork Australia, Beaconsfield TAS determined to find work in a job she enjoyed.
Regina lives with depression and some physical barriers. She wanted to overcome her feelings of loneliness and isolation by returning to work.
Job Coach Shannon worked with Regina to identify her career goals. She wanted to do something meaningful and support others, so she landed on working as a support worker.
Once they had a clear end goal in mind, they started working through what needed to be done to find Regina her perfect job.
They started with atWork Australia’s Jobs Now program. The program helped Regina improve her resume, write great cover letters, learn how to apply for roles, and practice her interview skills.
From here they worked on updating the qualifications Regina would need to work in the industry. atWork Australia organised a police check and a first aid certificate course.
Shannon helped with her applications and when an employment opportunity came up. The team worked hard to make Regina stand out.
“When the opportunity came up for a Support Worker role, we immediately contacted the employer. We followed up regularly until a suitable opportunity became available and locked in an interview with Regina,” said Job Coach Shannon.
atWork Australia then supported Regina with appropriate clothing for the interview and work clothing should she be successful.
“I was surprised at the effort my Job Coach went to secure me work. Support was always available.” Regina, DES Client, TAS
