Workforce Australia client, Princess, is a single mother who was ready to find employment. She came to the atWork Australia office in Riverwood, NSW, wanting support to find work within her caring responsibilities.
She shared with her Job Coach, Emma, that being unemployed was impacting her mental health.
“Princess and I worked together to build her confidence up to start a new career,” said Emma.
“We talked about what she needed support with and what industries she was interested in.”
To support Princess with her health and wellness she was referred to our in-house Wellness Services.
She also gained work as a Support Worker but found the role challenging, as it was not the best fit for her.
Emma, and Princess went back and discussed other options and industries which were more suitable.
Together they decided to pursue security work due to the broad options and flexibility of the hours on offer in the role.
Princess was supported to upskill and gain a Certificate II in Security, her security licence, a Responsible Service of Alcohol and Responsible Gambling Certificate.
Soon after completing these qualifications, Princess landed a role as Security Officer.
Emma helped her purchase work related clothing for her new role.
Princess shared with Emma that without atWork Australia’s support she wouldn’t have been able to enter the security industry due to the cost involved in obtaining the correct qualifications.
“I can now provide more for myself and for my son,” said Princess.
“I am feeling positive.”
“Being employed has improved my quality of life. I am in a routine once again, which is good for my headspace,” said Princess, atWork Australia client.
