Workforce Australia client, Scott, attended the atWork Australia office in Mowbray, Tasmania with little motivation to work.
His lifestyle, previous injuries, and lack of access to transport, had him feeling like work wasn’t much of an option for him.
Scott’s Job Coach, Nicole, encouraged Scott to participate in atWork Australia’s Positivum program, to support him to feel ready to re-enter the workforce.
Developed in partnership with Monash University, Positivum addresses beliefs and perceptions relating to health and work and provides coaching, to help you build your confidence and find the right job for you.
The benefits of Positivum include demonstrated improvements in: Beliefs about health, thoughts about working and the ability to get a job, confidence, managing pain at work and stress-management skills.
The Positivum course was also in-person at the local atWork Australia office, and along with the skills learned through the course, Scott started to enjoy having a reason to leave his house.
He started to believe in himself more and his ability to work.
As the course was ending, Nicole suggested to Scott that to keep up the momentum and to continue to have a reason to leave his house, that he could volunteer at a local organisation.
Scott was happy to give this a go. After a few weeks, the supervisor was very happy with Scott’s work as a volunteer. He then offered him a paid position with the organisation.
He is now working as a part time labourer and is happy for the support and encouragement from the atWork Australia team.
Every year, atWork Australia help thousands of clients like Scott, expand their skills and qualifications to help them gain the right job with the right employer. Call us today on 1300 080 856 or enquire online to find out how we can help you meet your career goals.
