When Cameron joined atWork Australia’s Strathpine office he was suffering from severe anxiety and depression, the result of a difficult family life. He also has body dysmorphia, which while diagnosed was left untreated. These were the barriers that left Cameron unable to find employment and which needed to be addressed to help him move forward with his life.
His Disability Employment Services Job Coach Matt enrolled Cameron into Positivum™, an online assessment that measures a client’s beliefs and perceptions around health and work. The assessment gave Cameron a much better understanding of his mental health conditions and helped him identify a number of coping techniques.
It also allowed him to start implementing a number of life changing steps including seeing a psychologist to improve his anxiety and depression, join a gym and look at moving out of his current living arrangements which weren’t ideal.
For professional experience, Cameron studied with GO 1 Training and Matt organised him an internship placement within the Solar Services industry, as a Lead Generator at Green Sales in Brendale. The employer is one that continually looks to develop young individuals with a view to giving them a long-term career path.
The strides Cameron has made in both his personal and professional development has given him a positive outlook for the future and a successful career.
“I cannot wait to start work and I’m excited about what the future might hold,” said Cameron.
As his Job Coach, Matt is thrilled to see that Cameron is taking the steps to fulfil his potential and change his future. “It’s wonderful to see Cameron’s outlook on life has changed and is now extremely positive,” said Matt.
