Wow! What a fantastic day our DES and jobactive teams had attending the Perth Jobs Fair on Tuesday 20th April at the Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre.
We assisted over 400 attendees to prepare a new professional resume through JobActivator and give advice on interview skills and job search techniques through our one-on-one workshops meaning many of the jobseekers were ready to apply for jobs ON THE SPOT! There were lines around the corner for this service and our teams were required to put out more tables to meet the demand.
We transported more than 200 job seekers from our North and South locations, who had registered to attend the event. Our staff prepared these job seekers with interview clothing, resumes, smartriders, and encouraged them to engage with employers at the event. It was a mammoth effort to get everyone picked up on time and be prepared to start speaking with employers upon arrival at the event.
The DES team proudly displayed their new marketing and branding messages and their booth in the main arena had two lines at one stage awaiting direct registration, DES referrals or to transfer information to atWork Australia.
The Hon Luke Howarth, Assistant Minister for Youth and Employment Services was particularly impressed by our dedication to ‘making a real and practical difference’ at the Fair and in our Industry and posed for photos with our team.
A job well done, and a huge thank you to all the jobseekers who visited us on the day. And also thank you to the entire jobactive team and the DES WA team who made it possible for so many people looking for jobs to connect to services and employers.
