Workforce Australia client, Paul, started working with Job Coach, Aimee, at the Corrimal, New South Wales, atWork Australia office.
He had been looking for work for two years and felt there weren’t many opportunities for mature aged people.
Paul was living with mental health conditions and had low self-esteem.
Aimee referred Paul to our in-house Wellness Services to prioritise his health and wellness.
Paul also participated in the Money Minded course with atWork Australia to learn budgeting skills, while he continued to search for employment.
When Paul felt his health and wellness had improved, he returned to job searching.
He mentioned to Aimee he wasn’t sure what direction to take, or what kinds of businesses were open to mature aged workers.
Aimee suggested Paul attend one of our first steps to success events to meet with some employers.
She also supported Paul to learn computer and digital skills to help with his job searching, now that most roles are advertised online.
After this range of support, and Aimee’s unwavering support, Paul began to feel like there were opportunities available and his self-esteem and confidence began to rise.
“My experience with Aimee has been exceptional,” said Paul.
“This has now opened opportunities for employment which I didn’t think would be possible at my age.
“Aimee has been very supportive and understanding during my time with atWork Australia, which I appreciate greatly.”
“Aimee’s belief in me has given me the opportunity to move forward and overcome my barriers.” – Paul, Workforce Australia Client
