27-year-old Disability Employment Services client, Jessey, lives with anxiety. She expressed to her Job Coach at the atWork Australia office in Ferntree Gully, Victoria, that she found social settings and communicating with others difficult.
Jessey was interested in working in an administration role and was working with the atWork Australia team to find something suitable.
She shared with the team that she found workplaces stressful and often fell out of work as it impacted her health.
The team supported Jessey to feel confident by purchasing her some work-related clothing and advocating to employers on her behalf.
When Jessey landed a role with MEGT training in customer service, she was connected with In-Work Support Coach, Priya.
Knowing Jessey, Priya focused on being a safe space for Jessey to debrief about her workday, and they discussed strategies to manage work related stress.
Jessey mentioned to Priya she thought she might have ADHD and therefore her medications might be missing the mark. atWork Australia was able to support Jessey to attend the right medical appointments for a diagnosis and with her new medications she is feeling better equipped to manage her mental health.
Since then, Jessey has had a promotion at her place of work, and with the ongoing support of atWork Australia she is learning strategies to maintain her employment.
She is now excited about her future and has started saving for a home deposit.
“Since starting with atWork Australia in 2022, I have received amazing support at every stage of my journey,” said Jessey, atWork Australia Client.
