Sean first attended atWork Australia’s South Tamworth’s office in April 2022; he had been unemployed for four years.
Previously, Sean worked as a laborer for a smash repairer. However, he was finding it difficult to manage his anxiety and depression. Since connecting with atWork Australia, Sean has come a long way in learning how to manage his health conditions.
When Sean met his Job Coach, Izaac, they began planning a pathway for Sean to return to the workforce. atWork Australia were able to support Sean by providing funding for short courses and to gain tickets that would increase his employability and open doors to new opportunities. Sean now has his forklift ticket, White Card and is ready to return to work.
Izaac also supported Sean with his job searching; teaching him how to identify suitable positions. Together they worked on preparing and submitting the applications. Izaac continued to provide encouragement and motivated Sean to believe in himself.
Sean’s hard work and dedication to developing his skill set has paid off. He has now landed a position as a Store Person at Fantastic Furniture, working in the warehouse where he can utilise his new skills.
Izaac said, “Sean has come a long way with atWork Australia; learning how to manage his mental health and has done well coming out of his shell and returning to the workforce.”
Sean was very appreciative of the support he received from his Job Coach, Izaac. He is now happily employed and is now being supported by atWork Australia’s In-Work Support team, to ensure he is comfortable and supported in his new workplace.
Sean said, “it is not just about employment support, but emotional support too. There is no high pressure, they give gentle support.”
“Employment has had a big impact on Sean, he has really come out of his shell. He has been able to talk to people again.” – Izaac, atWork Australia Job Coach
