Workforce Australia client, Cai, is from a culturally diverse background, speaking both Cantonese and Mandarin at home.
She had previously worked in hospitality roles, but a medical condition meant she needed to take some time off.
She came to atWork Australia in Joondalup for support and met Job Coach, Jamie. At times, Jamie uses an interpreter to support Cai at her appointments.
Cai was looking for a part-time role in hospitality.
“She would often come into the office to seek advice, ask questions and gain support with her applications,” said Jamie.
“She was motivated and enthusiastic about finding work.”
Cai was supported with her resume and applying for roles.
It wasn’t long before Cai visited the office to let the team know she had a job opportunity at a local restaurant.
Job Coach, Jamie, supported Cai to purchase some work-related items to start her new role.
“She returned to the office, excited and over the moon with her uniform items,” said Jamie.
“She then came back again, after her first shift, to thank us for supporting her into work.”
