“I think little things, such as going to a job interview for the first time in 20 years, should be celebrated just as much as being able to buy something special with your first pay,” said Natalie.
Natalie has been working as a Job Coach with atWork Australia for three years.
“I’m a big believer that it’s important to celebrate the big and the small moments, especially for those who may not have the support shown to them before,” said Natalie.
One of Natalie’s first clients had low confidence. They worked together to build confidence and build routine, and after some time the client landed a job.
Unfortunately, the job didn’t work out, and the client’s confidence was impacted.
“I remember it was heartbreaking for the client,” said Natalie.
“However, with support he got back up, tried again, and landed a second role that he has now been working at for the past two years.”
Another client disclosed to Natalie that they were impacted by grief after losing a family member.
The client really wanted to work and do things that made her feel positive.
“With a combination of working together and assistance from some atWork Australia’s Employer Engagement Consultants, the client was able to get placed into employment.”
“It was a memorable moment as they ended up working as a Teaching Assistant, a role they had done many years ago and enjoyed.”
“It felt full circle for them to come back to the role again.”
“It was important to her because she made a lot of the steps by herself, however, she knew she wasn’t alone in the process either.”
