Narelle came to atWork Australia’s Midland office having been unemployed for four years, during which time she has been raising her two children. Narelle lives with mental health conditions and is also the primary carer of her son who lives with Autism.
This year Narelle’s children were entering school and daycare, giving Narelle time and space to think about returning to work, something she really wanted to do to earn money and to get out of the house.
Narelle was very pro-active and found a role online for a company she had actually worked for in the past, as a Receptionist. Narelle got in touch with her Disability Employment Services Job Coach Nikita and told her about the role, Nikita recommended she go into the business and ask about the role that day. Narelle did just that, they interviewed her, and only one week later she was offered a full-time role.
With Nikita’s support, Narelle was confident to approach the business which paid off – she now has a full-time job with a company she knows she enjoys working with. “Narelle actually heard from the employer before me. She was very happy, excited and couldn’t wait to start,” Nikita said.
“Narelle is very motivated, always attended all her appointments and always took the time with doing her job search. She was willing to give anything a go. It’s so nice seeing her returning to the workforce and in a job, she is really happy in.”
A wonderful outcome for Narelle returning to work with young children.
