Tayla (pictured right) has been working with atWork Australia for the past two years.
“I enjoy my role because I love helping people achieve their goals, and giving them the drive to succeed,” said Tayla.
Before this she had experience in retail and childcare. Roles some of her clients are interested in so she can give real life advice on what to expect in those types of jobs.
Some of Tayla’s most memorable moments as a Job Coach have been when she helps her clients achieve more than they ever expected.
“One of my most memorable client was one I had been working with for a while who started a certificate. He had a lot going on in his personal life and it was the first time someone had pushed him to succeed,” said Tayla.
“We built up this client’s confidence and trust. He completed the certificate in the office with us and had the biggest smile on his face when we gave him the verification of education. I was so proud of him!”
Another memorable client is Kevin (pictured centre). Tayla supported Kevin to apply for jobs online, teaching him how to navigate various job searching platforms, explaining what information he needed to provide and assisted with reading and writing applications.
Soon enough, Kevin secured an interview for a Trainee Operator position, which would require him to fly-in, fly- out to the Northwest of WA. Kevin was filled with excitement, with the support of his Job Coach, Tayla, the pair fine-tuned his interview skills and developed strong responses to the typical interview questions.
Only a short while ago, Kevin was doubting his ability to find work, so when he got the news that he had been successful, he could barely believe it.
“My top client story of all time would have to be when a client who had been long-term unemployed (10+ years) left me a voicemail saying he got a job. I had been working with this client for a long time and he was so happy that he was given a chance to start work again,” said Tayla.
“He still pops into the office when he can and lets me know when he’s purchased the things he always wanted but wasn’t able to purchase before working.”
