23-year-old Workforce Australia client, Lola entered the atWork Australia office in Drysdale, VIC, ready to make some bold steps on her employment journey. Within only five months of working with her Job Coach, Jenna, and the atWork Australia team, she found meaningful employment.
Lola had recently completed a Certificate III in Community Services and was looking to find employment within the industry. She had a particular interest in working in childcare but was also open to exploring other employment paths.
The combination of living with mental health conditions, not having a driver’s licence and being out of the workforce for the past several months meant that Lola’s confidence in herself was low. At this same time, she was also having regularly scheduled driving lessons and completing further studies in Childcare.
With everything progressing well, her journey came to a halt when her current housing fell through, and she had nowhere stable to live. Once hearing this news, Jenna got right to work and provided a range of resources for Lola, and key contacts within the region.
Following Jenna’s advice, Lola found housing, but this was contingent on employment. Jenna, alongside Employment Engagement Consultant, Ashley, swiftly collaborated to secure a childcare position for Lola and purchased interview clothing.
Grateful for the support, Lola encountered a public transport delay on the way to her job interview. After realising that she might not make it to her interview on time, she promptly contacted Jenna who, with Ashley’s help, rescheduled the interview for the following day, and booked a taxi alleviating Lola’s immediate concerns.
After a great interview with the employer, where she felt comfortable, Lola secured the position and in turn, stable housing.
