Workforce Australia client and Dapto local, Maddison, entered the doors of atWork Australia in in September 2022. At this time, she had not been employed for over five years and had no driver’s licence. She was seeking support to reach her employment and life goals.
She was connected with Job Coach Kimberley. Within their first appointments together, they got to know each other and how they can both work together to achieve Maddison’s goals of finding employment and gaining her driver’s licence.
“It was important for me to build a great connection with Maddison from the beginning. My goal was to build her confidence, all whilst building our relationship, with the goal to assist her in overcoming her barriers,” said Kimberly.
“Maddison was very quiet and at times unsure of where to go and what to do.”
To assist in her journey, atWork Australia were able to adjust Maddison’s points to ensure she remained motivated and determined to achieve her goals. At this same time, Maddison was speaking with our in-house Wellness Services for additional support.
As the relationship between the pair grew throughout their regular appointments, Maddison’s confidence blossomed, and her motivation increased. Despite Kimberley moving into a new managerial position, she continued to work with her, with the assistance of new Job Coach, Brandon and In- Work Support Coach, Kirby.
Not only was Maddison confident within herself and her abilities to perform in the workplace, but she was now confident on the road too.
atWork Australia financially support her with gaining driving lessons and getting her driver’s licence when the time came.
“Maddison achieved her driver’s licence and bought her own car too!” said Brandon.
“Since providing tailored support to Maddison, she has done a complete turnaround.”
This turnaround has resulted in her securing a part-time position as a Laundry Attendant. She has been in this position for 26 weeks. In-Work Support Coach, Kirby works with Maddison to ensure that she is continuing to thrive at work.
When reflecting on her journey with atWork Australia, Maddison describes the support from the Dapto team as overwhelming in a good way. She feels she could not have progressed to where she is today without it.
