With a history of negative mental health and having just being released from incarceration in December, Workforce Australia client, Lochlan (21), was needing assistance to find work for the very first time.
Unable to pass a police check and navigate the job market solo, Lochlan reached out to his local atWork Australia team in Dapto, NSW.
Upon entering the office, he was met with his Job Coach, Mary. The pair discussed his skills, goals, and any potential barriers to employment that he may have.
Lochlan explained that he has no licence and depends on public transport to get from A to B. He also mentioned that he has several driving fines which inhibits his ability to apply for his Learner’s Licence.
Mary has applied to get these fines paid for, so he can obtain his licence.
The pair worked together to search for suitable positions that catered to Lochlan. And with great success, Mary sourced an opening as a Frame and Truss Labourer within a local business and put him forward for this position.
After a successful interview, Lochlan was offered the position. He was very chuffed with himself and was excited for the new opportunity.
With his first day fast approaching, Mary purchased all the Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) that he needed to ensure he was prepared.
After securing his first ever job, Lochlan’s confidence is at an all-time high, and he thanks Mary and the atWork Australia team in Dapto for all their assistance on his journey to employment.
“Lochlan has flourished throughout his time with atWork Australia”– Mary, Job Coach.
