Lisa-Ann has recently returned to casual work after a six-year gap in employment. However, she felt the casual role she held would not provide the opportunities she desired to grow her career.
Disheartened by her current situation, Lisa-Ann proactively put steps in place to make changes in her life.
The first step was to connect with atWork Australia’s Workforce Australia team in Mawson Lakes, SA.
Lisa-Ann was supported by Job Coach, Tayla. She shared that she was unhappy in her current role, she was barely getting any hours, and she couldn’t continue down this same path.
Tayla could see how determined Lisa-Ann was to make changes in her life and was eagerly seeking opportunities that would allow her to develop a career.
Tayla asked Lisa-Ann if she would be interested in up-skilling and gaining new qualifications, which she was incredibly excited about.
atWork Australia provided the funding for Lisa-Ann to complete a Certificate III in Community Services, Manual Handling Certificate and her First Aid qualification.
“Lisa-Ann is feeling more confident within herself. She has done extremely well to complete her studies and has even completed her work placement before the due date,” said Job Coach, Tayla.
Equipped with her new qualifications, Lisa-Ann and Tayla shifted the focus to developing her interview skills and fine tuning her resume and cover letter to suit various applications.
It was not long until Lisa-Ann was rewarded for her hard work, as she secured a position as a Personal Care Worker. “I am so happy and proud of myself. I feel like I am not going to have any issues maintaining regular hours,” said Lisa-Ann.
