Kirsty was self-employed when she first decided to reach out to atWork Australia in Clarkson, WA. However, this employment was inconsistent, and as the primary carer for her children, it was not allowing her to manage her commitments as a mother.
Despite these obvious challenges, Kirsty lacked the confidence to believe she was able to do much else in the situation. So, she continued.
Then, Kirsty was introduced to local Job Coach, Rose, who suggested that Kirsty attend a local marketing week where she was introduced to Employer Engagement Consultant, Jess.
Jess went through Kirsty’s skills and previous experience, providing interview tips and coaching along the way.
Jess works directly with local employers and recommended her to a position at John Hughes Group as a cleaner / office all-rounder.
After many failed job applications, Kirsty was so excited when she found out she was successful.
Kirsty said, “My confidence was knocked, and I was battling anxiety. I attended the marketing week with atWork Australia, which helped me realise I could combine my passions and interests into employment.”
Kirsty is happy to have an employer who is supportive of her family commitments. Her employer commented, “Kirsty is a wonderful person and we are very fortunate to have her as part of the team.”
Rose said, “Kirsty has been a pleasure to work with and it’s been a pleasure to assist her on her journey from self-employment to a secure and stable role that suits her needs.”
The team in Clarkson will continue to support her in her role to ensure everything continues well.
“I am grateful to atWork Australia for their direction and support,” said Kirsty.
