Kayla started working with atWork Australia’s Job Coach, Deb, in July 2022 at the Drysdale, Victoria, office.
“Kayla arrived for her first appointment very anxious. She barely spoke but instantly I could feel her pain and wanted to help her,” said Deb.
Deb listened to Kayla and learnt her accommodation situation was less than ideal, she didn’t have a Drivers Licence and she was living with anxiety.
“I listened closely to Kayla and referred her immediately to our in-house Wellness Services so she could speak with a professional,” said Deb.
Workforce Australia’s tailored and flexible servicing meant that Deb could amend Kayla’s requirements so she could fully focus on her health and wellbeing. They could look at job searching later when Kayla was work ready.
“The flexibility of the Points Based Activation System (PBAS) in Workforce Australia meant Kayla could focus on her wellbeing, which in-turn would better support her to be job ready.”
Over time, Kayla’s confidence and self-esteem grew and she became work ready.
Deb supported Kayla to look at roles she might be interested in and Kayla began working as a full-time labourer.
atWork Australia supported Kayla to purchase the personal protective equipment she needed to start work.
Since starting work, Kayla has gone on to gain her Driver’s Licence and has bought a car which has opened more opportunities for her.
“She has been a wonderful client and has always attended her appointments with me. I saw a strength in her that I don’t think she believed in,” said Deb.
“Since commencing with atWork Australia, Kayla has gained her Drivers Licence, gained employment, bought a car, gained confidence and most importantly, is now smiling again,” said Deb, Job Coach.
