Jackson is a motivated and determined young man. He has recently moved to Adelaide from interstate to look for employment and new career opportunities.
Jackson is passionate about photography and hopes to one day have his own business in photography and media marketing.
Since being in Adelaide, Jackson has secured a photography internship. However, he wanted paid employment to support himself while he works towards his goals.
Jackson connected with atWork Australia’s Disability Employment Services team in Noarlunga, South Australia, for tailored support on his employment journey.
Jackson was being supported by Job Coach, Katrina. From day one of working together, Jackson was committed to finding employment. Often telling Katrina he was prepared to do anything, he just wanted to find a job and keep working towards his photography goals.
Jackson shared he experiences anxiety and that he was beginning to lose confidence from the regular knock backs. Jackson was becoming disheartened and told Katrina he might have to consider moving back interstate if he couldn’t secure employment quickly.
Katrina encouraged him to keep his chin up and keep putting his best foot forward.
Jackson was continuously going the extra mile to find a job. He attended employment expo’s, applied for positions online, he printed his resume and spoke with employers’ face to face to apply for positions.
Through sheer hard work and his desire to succeed, Jackson began securing interviews. Jackson used every interview as an opportunity to fine tune his responses Through his perseverance he landed one of those interviews and started work. However the role required a longer commute than Jackson wanted.
A few months later, after Jackson had started his new position, he noticed one of the positions he previously applied for was re-advertised. He went and submitted his application in person. The employer remembered him and offered him another interview. After the interview, the employer offered Jackson the job and said he should have employed him the first time around.
Jackson was over the moon to secure a customer service role. Gone were the days of a long commute to get to work, this new opportunity was a two-minute walk from his house.
