atWork Australia client, Jonathon, said, “I am so grateful to atWork Australia for listening to my employment goals and believing in me."

Workforce Australia client, Jonathon, came to atWork Australia at a challenging point in his life. He had been unemployed for more than a year, as he had sacrificed his own goals to care for a sick family member and raise his children.

When Jonathon met his Job Coach, Chloe, at atWork Australia’s Mirrabooka office, he admitted he was struggling. He had no fixed address and had been desperately trying to secure a job in the fly-in, fly-out (FIFO) space. Despite his best efforts, he was not successful.

Chloe could see Jonathon’s desire to find employment and she was motivated to help him. Chloe booked Jonathon into the Housekeeping Essentials Gen U Training, which would develop his skills and increase his chance of securing a FIFO role.

During the training, Jonathon met atWork Australia’s Employer Partnerships Manager, Jess. In conversation, Jonathon shared his goal to secure a FIFO position and that he would like to work for Sodexo. However, he’d had no luck securing a position.

Jess could see how hard Jonathon was working during the training to develop his skills. What Jonathon did not know while talking to Jess, was that she has a strong relationship with Sodexo.

Jess called Sodexo and invited them to atWork Australia’s upcoming First Steps to Success event, she explained Jonathon’s situation, how hard he has been working and asked if they would interview him at the event. Jonathon could not believe what Jess had done, the effort she had put in to arrange a face-to-face interview which would allow him to be seen and heard by the employer.

Jonathon was so grateful and humbled when he received the good news, he successfully secured a position. He couldn’t believe he achieved his goal. He was so grateful to everyone involved in supporting him on this journey.

In addition to helping Jonathon secure his dream job, he was supported by atWork Australia’s Wellness Services, obtained his RSA licence, police clearance, was supported with food and fuel vouchers, and transport assistance. All of these additional supports were contributing factors in Jonathon’s successful return to the workplace.
