Job Coach Mykie believes that what makes a good Job Coach is the same as the opportunities of being a Job Coach. He is passionate to be a part of his client’s journeys, their growth and offers his knowledge and skills so they can find suitable employment and thrive at work. In his free time, Mykie likes to read, meditate, hike, watch movies, listen to music, go to the gym, swim and have dinner with his friends and family.
Mykie’s most memorable client is David. David was living with anxiety, PTSD, was autistic, and has a brain injury. He was finding it difficult to be motivated and he saw his age as a barrier to securing employment. Mykie worked with David to identify concerns and how to address them. Mykie excelled in securing employment for David through his understanding, empathy, patience and compassion. David also felt heard and valued when working alongside Mykie. David was over the moon to be employed and to be a role model for his sons, he is enjoying his role and expresses his appreciation to Mykie. Read David’s Good News Story here.
Mykie talks about his recipe to being a successful Job Coach “Being able to stand out and listen to clients, offer suggestions, steps and tools to create the right role and tailor the appointment to each client as each client has a different journey of learning and understanding. Each client has challenges that need to be valued and taken into consideration before looking at employment. We can do this, alongside providing assistances towards job searching.”
Mykie works alongside local communities and organisations who have been understanding towards social and learning barriers that clients are experiencing, by understanding and acknowledging their skills and passions. Some of these include: Stepping Stone Clubhouse, the Men’s Shed, Suited to Success, Back to Work and Pivotal.
Something many people don’t know about Mykie is that he goes above and beyond for his clients. Mykie says: “I like to see the light in my clients when they get good news and feel a soul reward when I know that to a small percentage, I helped them with that first step into a life they deserve.”
Mykie loves helping those looking for the next chapter in their live and is a strong believer of continuous learning and development.
Mykie says: “I love working with my clients, the opportunity to be a part of their growth and offer my learned skills and knowledge to help pave a path.”
The nicest compliment Mykie has received is: “Because of you, I am motivated, happier and my family are all supporting me also. Now I love my job and get to take my family out and about.”
