Jennifer lives with health conditions and could only work a few hours every day. Even with these barriers, Jennifer wanted to have a meaningful job where she was needed.
She wanted to work as a school crossing supervisor but needed help with all the paperwork required and finding an available job.
She started working with Job Coach, Warda at the Broadmeadows, VIC atWork Australia office. They worked on a plan to help Jennifer achieve her dream role.
The first step was helping Jennifer organise her paperwork. She didn’t have a copy of her birth certificate and had no identification. Job Coach, Warda, assisted her to obtain the documents she needed, so they could complete a police and working with children check for the role.
While the paperwork was getting underway, Jennifer worked on her health to be strong and healthy for when a role became available.
“It took a few months for the paperwork to be ready. In that time, I continued to motivate Jennifer, encouraging her to reach for her goals and overcome her barriers,” said Warda.
Once everything was ready, Warda began calling potential employees and telling them about Jennifer and promoting her skills and abilities.
Jennifer was soon successful in obtaining a role as a school crossing supervisor.
atWork Australia continued to support her as she completed her two-week induction course.
“Without the support of atWork Australia, I wouldn’t have found a suitable and meaningful job,” said Jennifer, DES Client, VIC.
