39-year-old, Jay, from Mirrabooka in Western Australia, had been working in a trade since he left school. He had all the tickets, skills and experience and was thriving at work.
However, after back-to-back personal crises, he had to step away from work. During this time, his tickets expired, and he was finding it hard to get back into the industry after his time away.
Jay started working with Job Coach, Sanah, in the atWork Australia Workforce Australia team.
Sanah could see Jay’s motivation to return to work was slipping, and the recent failed applications had impacted his self-esteem.
During their first few appointments, Sanah got to know Jay; she focused on supporting him to learn about Workforce Australia and the PBAS points system.
Then, they started discussing his goal to get back to his trade, and Sanah started working on re-building his self-esteem through coaching, motivation and supporting Jay.
Sanah supported Jay financially to regain the tickets he needed, and also enrolled him into the Money Minded course to learn how to work with his current finances.
Jay now has his dogging ticket, working at heights and in confined spaces ticket, and is well on track to returning to his trade.
With Sanah and the atWork Australia team behind Jay, he is feeling supported to progress towards his employment goals.
“Thank you, Sanah, for believing in me. I finally found someone that cares about me and is pushing me to change my life,” said Jay.
