Indigenous client, Jarome is 29 and living in Punchbowl, NSW. He entered the Riverwood atWork Australia office as a Workforce Australia client looking for support to find employment.
He had previously worked in a number of labouring roles, gaining valuable workplace experience. He had also completed a Certificate III in Entrepreneurship and New Business, and was doing his security licence, actively upskilling to be ready for any roles that became available.
Jarome had many skills he could bring to the workplace but needed support to market himself to employers.
His Job Coach, Zubda could see his soft skills would be a great asset to any employer.
“Jarome learns fast, has a positive attitude and would be a great team player,” said Zubda.
She referred Jarome to our internal Jobs for the Mob program to gain tailored support.
During the course he found support to tailor his resume, highlighting his skills and achievements, while working with Wendy, the facilitator, to practice interviews and market himself to employers.
Meanwhile, Employer Engagement Consultant, Rachael started marketing Jarome to local employers.
The team were able to secure Jarome an interview, and he took his new interview skills, and successfully landed a role.
He is now working as a labourer in a contract position, gaining further skills and experience.
His new employer praised his work ethic and said he was very reliable, humble and a great addition to the team.
Jarome is now being supported by the atWork Australia In-Work Support team who are listening to Jarome’s goals and aspirations for his next role.
They look forward to supporting him to find his long-term career in a role that is right for him.
