Job Coach, Ry, was working as a machinist for 10 years when he felt drawn to work with people. He then moved into retail roles for another 10 years and enjoyed working directly with customers.
However, he felt like the retail role still wasn’t the exact fit for him; he then discovered the Job Coach role with atWork Australia.
He really felt like he was helping people when one client who had had lost all self-confidence, got her light back.
“I had a client that previously was dedicating her life to nursing but a toxic relationship caused her to lose her self-confidence,” said Ry.
“During her time with atWork Australia, and with the help of the team here, her desire to work came back. We managed to place her into a nursing role and the light came back and she feels more like herself than she has in a long time. She is very happy and is enjoying life.”
“This filled me with such joy, and I am so happy that I had the honour of the client’s trust. They allowed me to be a part of the process. Moments like that remind me why I got into this job.”
When Ry isn’t at work, he is probably immersed in the superhero world.
“I enjoy movies, music, I am a gamer, and I am a complete nerd when it comes to Batman and superheroes,” said Ry.
When Ry is at work, he says it doesn’t feel like work at all.
“Working with or clients doesn’t feel like work but instead feels like a privilege,” said Ry.
“It brings me great pleasure knowing I could help someone make a positive impact in their life.”
