Despite being out of the workforce for four years, and experiencing financial instability, Workforce Australia client, Heath was always a ‘beacon of light’ says his Job Coach, Shelby.
After an extensive career working with youth in a variety of different roles, he was after a change. So he connected with atWork Australia in Wanneroo, WA, for assistance.
Appearing to be the happiest man in the room, Heath shared his severe stress with Shelby in their first appointment together.
“Heath was unemployed for several years and did not have many work qualifications in the areas he was seeking employment in,” said Shelby.
“In addition to lack of recent work experience, Heath does not have a car which was another barrier to employment for him.”
Heath was looking to give anything a try to boost his employability and skills on the journey to finding work that he loves.
“Any opportunity to upskill or learn, Heath was there with a massive smile on his face,” said Shelby.
Over the coming months, Heath completed a range of external programs, courses and activities preparing him to enter warehousing/factory work.
Heath also participated in a local First Steps to Success event within the region, allowing him to connect with employers with vacancies. He also completed Money Minded. Allowing him to boost his money management skills.
With Heath now feeling job ready, Shelby discussed interview techniques, polished his resume and financially supported him in purchasing clothing, and fuel and food vouchers.
His positivity was noticed by everyone, including his interviewer, when applying for the position he was successful in.
“Now that Heath has successfully gained full time employment, his happiness radiates even more than before!” said Shelby.
Heath is overjoyed to be working full time as a factory hand. Although the work was all him, Heath could not be more thankful for the support of Shelby, and the atWork Australia team.
