Local Blacktown resident, Michael entered the local office looking to achieve his employment goals. Before joining Workforce Australia, he was struggling to find employment solo, but regularly attended local indigenous programs within the community.
Upon entering the office, Michael was greeted by Job Coach, Jake. Within his initial appointment, Jake got to know Michael including what his goals are, employment history, and what he would like his future to look like. This allowed Jake to understand how we can best support him.
After this appointment, the pair got straight to work and created an updated resume to impress employers. Jake also provided Michael financial support via travel card ‘Opal’ top ups and clothing.
In this time, the pair also worked on building Michael’s interview skills via mock interviews in the office.
All of Michaels hard work in his appointment’s very quickly paid off. Within only 2 weeks from first entering the office, he was offered a part time position as a cleaner with a supportive employer – which was just what he was looking for.
Jake states that he has seen a noticeable difference in Michael’s engagement, attitude, and positive outlook on life.
To Michael, having a job has been life changing. He feels like he has grown as a person since he began work.
Michael loves the vibe of the office so much, that still regularly attends the Blacktown office. He pops in to say hi to the team and to chat about his job.
